A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF CHAPMAN, KANSAS FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 79-1953, AS AMENDED, WHICH RELATES TO LIMITATIONS ON TAX LEVIES FOR CERTAIN MUNICIPAL FUNDS.

Section 1. The City of Chapman, Kansas, pursuant to the power vested by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to be exempt from the provisions of K.S.A. 79-1953, as amended, which are enactments of the legislature applicable to the City of Chapman, Kansas but which are not applicable uniformly to all cities throughout Kansas, and to provide substitute and additional provisions as are set out in this ordinance.

Section 2. Provisions of K.S.A. 79-1953 and any amendments thereto shall not apply to taxes levied by the City of Chapman, Kansas and said city shall enact its own taxes relating to the categories listed therein.

Section 3. The rate of levy for library purposes shall not exceed 3.5 mills.
